CIPD reveals HR profession map to replace older standards

The map is made to help specialists become equipped with the relevant skills needed for current practise and future growth areas around HR, in preparation intended for an change of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) qualifications expected to be introduced in 2010. It recognises that people could enter the HR career from a diverse range of backgrounds, and that career paths are more complicated today than when the original requirements were arranged, the CIPD said. The map contains three key elements:
Professional areas – what HOURS practitioners have to do and know Behaviours – how to accomplish activities, split up into four groups of skills from beginner to command Bands and transitions – how to develop from a single role to a different, split into four bands of competence which in turn illustrate the hierarchy in the profession. The news comes just weeks after CIPD chief executive Jackie Orme told Personnel Todaythat CIPD qualifications will be transformed to provide HR personnel a greater comprehension of what hard drives performance in organisations. Orme said today: " Within the next few years the profession will see new qualifications at different levels, a far more flexible method of the delivery of existing qualifications, and more personalised resources and support from the CIPD to help people program and develop their occupations at no matter what level they are really operating...
